Trusses.-In a truss of the type in which a bar fitted with pads and shaped to the contour of the body is combined with a band embracing the body of the wearer, the ends of the bar are cranked so that the points of connection of the bar and the band lie approximately on or below a line containing the centres of pressure of the pads. The rustless metallic bar 1 fitted with pads 3 is provided with downwardly extending hinged crank arms 4 connected to the non-elastic band 2 in the manner set out above. A suitable pad comprises a hollow member, preferably of vulcanite, hingedly connected to a pillar 5 which is adjustably mounted in a slot 6 in the bar 1. A spring blade 7 secured between shoulders 8, 9 on the pillar engages a slideway 10 on the pad. In use, the truss is fitted with the band lying substantially on the axis of the great trochanters, and the tightening of the band is stated to move the bar 1 so as to ensure effective pressure of the pads against the body.
