Abstract

The invention comprises a climbing ladder capable of being collapsed into a single pole unit. The ladder consists of two side posts with intermediary rungs at suitable centres greater than the length of the rungs. The method of the collapse is to bring the two side posts together by rotation of pin joints at the ends of the rungs. The two side posts are recessed to receive the rungs and conceal them from view once the ladder has been collapsed. In the collapsed position there exists only one single pole unit. The ladder is held in the open position by a suitable diagonal member fixed to both side posts. The ladder is held in the closed position by a suitable openable clip.

SPECIFICATION Pole ladder Gerreral.
The invention comprises a climbing ladder capable of being collapsed into a single pole unIt.
Description
The ladder consists of two side posts with intermediary rungsat suitable centres. It can be of any height, width or strength required.
The method of collapse is to bring the two side posts together by rotation of pin joints at the ends of the rungs. The two side posts are recessed to receive the rungs and conceal them from view once the ladder has been collapsed-. tn the collapsed position there exists only one single pole unit.
Materials The rungs, side posts nd associated accessaries may be constructed in aluminium, steel, n alloy, hard plastic or some or some other suitable material depending on application, strength and light weight requirements.
Construction The side posts are formed with a recess in one face suitable fsr receiving the rungsin a flat position. The rungs are placed at suitable centres (greater than the length of the rungs) end on in the recess. Ahole is drilled through the front of the side post through the rung and out the far side of the side post. Apin is fixed through this hole. The hole may be sleeved if required. The rungs are free to rotate at least through a 90/% angle about the pins. A suitable openable diagonal member is fixed across at least at one point on the opened ladder to hold it in the open position.
When the ladder is collapsed into the closed position at least one openable clip or strap is fixed to hold the ladder in this position.
Conclusion The resultant ladder in the open position will act as any normal climbing ladder. In the closed position it is more convenient than the normal ladder for transporting and storing as it comprises only a single pole unit.
CLAIMS We claim the invention to be the convenient collapsability of a climbing ladder into a single pole unit. The inventive processes comprise-: 1. Pin joints at both ends of the ladder rungs which allows the side posts to come together by rotation about these pins.
2. The recessing of the side posts to receive the ladder rungs which allows the side posts to abut one another in the collapsed position. In the collapsed position the ladder would comprise only one single pole unit.
