Abstract

A personal portable safe comprises two rectangular steel box -like parts 1,2, the main one 1 of which retains one end of a fixed flexible anchoring member 3 and the other one 2 of which slides into body 1 so as to secure the other end of anchoring member 3; the two parts 1 and 2 are fastened together by a pin 8 which passes through aligned holes 9 in parts 1 and 2, a padlock hasp passing through a hole 11 in the pin 8 to lock this in place.

Description

PERSONAL PORTABz E SAFE This invention relates to a personal, portable security device or safe Safes are well known security devices used to protect items of value. Essentially they are strong robust sealed boxes, that can only be opened on one ofthe sides. This side is firmly secured by some form of locking mechanism.
They tend to be permanent, stationary devices but their application has been extended to portable use. This is however limited with regard to "Personal" use by individuals due to practical considerations.
According to the present invention there is provided a personal portable safe comprising of a steel rectangular box that separates into two parts - one part being the main body of the box and the other a smaller detachable section that is adapted to slide on and off the main body. The main body has a fixed, flexible, inextensible anchoring member. One end is fixed to the main body and the other end is detachable secured and held in position by sliding the smaller detachable section of the box onto the main body in the closed position of the safe. The safe is locked by inserting a cylindrical metal pin through holes in both box sections situated at the point of overlap. The metal pin, larger at one end to prevent it passing through the holes, is secured in place by putting a padlock through a hole situated at one end ofthe pin.
A specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanied drawing in which: Figure 1 shows in perspective the safe in the closed position and locked.
Figure 2 illustrates the separation of the two sections of the safe and how the mechanism of the safe works.
Figure 3 shows the application of the safe.
Referring to the drawing, the safe comprises a main body of the box 1 and a detachable section of the box 2. The main body of the box has a fixed, flexible, inextensible anchoring member 3. One end is fixed to the main body 4 and the the other end is detached 5. The detached end 5 is secured by sliding it into a slot 6 on the main body of the safe. The detachable section of the box then slides on to the main body of the box 7. A cylindrical metal pin 8 is then inserted into holes 9 in both box sections situated at the point of overlap. The pin is anchored by its larger end 10 on the one side of the box and once it as been passed through the box it can be secured by placing a padlock through a hole in the pin 11. The safe is now in the closed position and locked. to open the safe the steps described above are carried out in the reverse sequence.
