Abstract
211,258. Newman, S. Nov. 28, 1922. Catches and sheaths for hinged and like pins. -In a brooch, safety-pin, &c. having a pin member adapted to engage in a socket member, an externally-threaded conical or cylindrical member is slidably and rotatably mounted on the pin-member and is adapted to be screwed into the socket-member to secure the fastening. In a brooch, Fig. 1, a conical member 5 with an external thread slides on the pin 2, and is screwed into the catch 4 by means of the milled part 6 to secure the brooch. As applied to a latch, Fig. 2, a conical screw-threaded member 12 is slidably and rotatably mounted on the pin 9 and is screwed into the socket 11 to secure the latch. The socket 11 is slightly twisted so as to conform to the angle of the screw-thread. Preferably, the end of the pin 9 is flattened to prevent removal of the conical member 12.
