Abstract

210,372. Stephens, W. H. Sept. 10, 1923. Swimming appliances.-A device to facilitate swimming comprises two circular webs to be worn on the leg. The webs A, B are secured to elastic garters C, D. which are connected by a strap E passing under the sole of the foot. A second strap may be used passing over the instep to prevent slipping of the device. The webs are of waterproof textile material such as umbrella cloth, strengthened by whalebone or other non-corrosive ribs F, G. The outer ends of the ribs F are connected by cords &c. H to the strap D, and the ends of the ribs G by cords &c. J with the strap E as shown, to prevent collapse in the upward direction. In use, the web A is just below the knee and the web B just above the ankle.
