Abstract

209,352. Wollaston, T. R. April 17, 1923. Producers.-A pre-distillation retort mounted on a gas producer and traversed by the hot gases from the producer is provided with a series of deflecting members or ploughs in combination with fixed' floors with apertures therein, whereby the fuel is passed from floor to floor and opened and crushed before delivery to the producer. The fuel is delivered from a feed valve h and through an aperture s on to a horizontal floor c and propelled by a rotary member i to the aperture k leading to a conical floor d over which another member o rotates, the fuel passing through a central opening m provided with a crusher in the form of a taper worm n and leading to the next floor c and so on. The hot gases from the producer a escape through an outlet r, the carbonized product falling on to the fuel bed of the producer. Specification 113,856 is referred to.
