Abstract

A rolling mill comprises a billet feeding mechanism (7), a frame (35) and, mounted movably in that frame and actuated with a driving mechanism (8), at least one cassette (21) with working (1) and backup (25) rolls mounted therein. The back-up roll (25) contacts with a stationary adjustable support (29), whereas the working roll (1) is shifted in relation to the back-up roll in the direction of the worked billet (3) by a distance equal to 0.1 to about 0.5 of the half-sum of the diameters of both rolls (1) and (25).
