Abstract

Teeth-cleaning appliances.-In teeth-cleansing apparatus, a tube 11, Fig. 4, communicates with a container 3 for liquid dentifrice and with a mixing chamber 8, and a concentric tube 12 communicating with a passage 7 leading to a pressure-resisting reservoir 1, Fig. 1, for liquid carbonic acid also communicates through apertures 13 and a tube 14 and an aperture 16<1> with the mixing chamber. A spray with particles of dentifrice liquid entrained in a jet of carbonic acid issues through the spray outlet 15. The reservoir 1 is connected by a flexible tube 2 with the container 3, which is carried by the hand. The liquid in the container 3 may be maintained under pressure by gas entering through a passage 6, and the ratio of the sizes of the gas and liquid apertures in the nozzle is unity or less. One or more eccentric gas apertures 13 or an inclined gas duct may be used. A pressure-reduction valve 5 may be interposed between the vessel 1 and hose 2. A construction is described wherein this valve acts also as a shut off and relief valve, so that when the valve is shut the gas in the hose escapes and the production of spray is stopped; or a three-way cock may be interposed between an ordinary pressure-reduction valve and the container 3.
