Cylinders, pipes and ports of.-In a two-strokecycle engine compressed air is supplied by a double-acting pump 3 to a reservoir 5, the cylinders being scavenged by air admitted through terminal ports 8, which open after the opening of the exhaust ports. The air for forming the charge is admitted through valves 6 in the cylinder head. The air passes from the reservoir to the ports 8 through a cross duct 10 and ducts 9 cast in the pump cylinder.
