Abstract

208,125. Boltshauser, H. Dec. 6, 1922. [Convention date]. Railway locomotives, steam.-In a condensing steam-locomotive, the auxiliary steam engine 10, driving the circulating-pump 3 for the cooling water in the condenser, drives at the same time a boiler feed-pump 9 and a pump 6 for the water of condensation. As shown, the engine 10 is a turbine and drives the pump 9 directly and tha pump 3 through gearing 13 and shaft 11 which has gearing 15 for a shaft 17 driving the pump 6. All the pumps may be of the centrifugal type. The turbine 10 may drive an air pump for the brakes, as well as a vacuum air pump.
