Thrashing-machines. - The grain stalks are thrown into the thrashing drum 3 so that the ears lie over a portion 12 of a trough containing the beaters 9, this portion of the trough being provided with perforations sufficiently wide to permit grain to fall through to a second perforated screen 14 along which it moves to a delivery aperture 16. The concave 4, straw shaker 5, perforated sheet 6 co-operating therewith, and beaters 9 are of ordinary construction. A current of air from a blower 7 is passed through the beater trough to carry off the light particles of straw, casings, chaff, and the like through the opening 10. The part 13 of the trough near to the opening 10 is provided with small perforations through which heavy grit and weed seeds may fall. Any unthrashed ears that may fall through the machine are discharged through a shoot 15.
