Thrashing-machines; hulling, husking, and decorticating.-An apparatus for thrashing, " grating," sifting, and cleaning clover, and also for separating barley grains, shelling wheat, and similarly treating Corn and seeds, consists of a " grating-drum " c, a shaking and sifting apparatus f, and a sifting-frame l, with blowers k, n. The clover is fed by a hopper a and a delivery roller b to a " grating-drum " c with beating-laths d which throws it against a " grating basket " e. The grated clover falls upon the shaking-frame f, inclined at 15‹ to 20‹, which is shaken by a crank g. The clover falls through removable sieves f<1> - - f<4> and on to a lower dust sieve f<5>, and thence to an elevator h, which carries it to the upper sifting-frame l, whence it passes, through the receiving-box o, into sacks. The frames f, l are connected by rods m. The blowers are regulated bv valves i, and in the sieye frame " in which the second purification is effected " throttle valves are fitted to retain the clover seeds.
