Sketching and drawing desks; desk adjustments; frames.-The board 1 of a drawing-table is pivotally mounted on a vertically sliding frame 3, and at a point near the centre of the board is pivotally connected to a supporting member 8 of independently adjustable length. The sliding frame, 3 and adjustable member 8 are mounted on a common tripod, and are locked in position or released simultaneously. The top rests on three telescopic columns, of which the member 9 is provided with an internal spring tending to extend it. In Fig. 1, the sliding frame 3 rests on two vertically sliding members 4 which are locked in position in guides 6 in legs 7 by movable wedge members connected by a rod 31 and links 34, 32 to a pedal 18 controlling also the locking member of the column 8, 9. This column is locked by a conical ring 16 acting on a split tapered portion 15 of the tube 9, and is actuated by the lever 18 pivoted in the box 10 and connected to the ring 16 by draw bars 21. A spring in the box 10 acting on the lever 18 holds the locking means normally in active position. In Figs. 4 and 5, the three telescopic columns are locked in any position by a surrounding flexible band 41 connected as shown to rods 42 bent at their upper ends to form levers 43 which are rotated by weak springs 44 to press the bands against the telescopic columns. The levers 43 are connected by cables 46 - - 48 to a common operating-handle 45. In each case, the table is held locked in adjusted position by a spring means, which is controlled by the operating handle or lever.
