[Classes 52 (i) and 52 (iii)] A surgical table comprises a tubular bed 1, adapted to carry for slidable adjustment along said bed various patient supporting devices, wherein the foot end of the bed is provided with a slidable extension 2 carrying a rest 4 for the lower part of the patient the rest being foldable and lowered into the opened top portion 3 of the extension 2 when not required for use, the extension 2, 3 then being returned into the bed 1 to leave the foot end of the bed free from obstruction. The rest 4 comprises a central portion 5 and side portions 6, 7 foldable thereon, the whole being carried by parallel links from brackets 10 fixed to the extension 2, 3 and maintained in its position of use by a strut 11 mounted by means of a sleeve 13 on a rod 14 which serves to guide the extension 2, 3 into the bed 1, a handle 16 being provided for this purpose. The bed 1 is mounted in bearings 28 and may be adjusted angularly about its axis by worm and quadrant 29 and handle 30. The bearings 28 are carried by standards 24 which are telescopic and operated by worm gearing 25 and handle 27. The bed 1 is provided with longitudinal channels 39 for the saddles 40 of the patient supporting devices such as back rest 41, traction bars 42, pelvic support 44 with perineal post 44 so that they may be adjusted along the bed into the required positions. The traction bars 42 carry the usual traction elements 45. A longitudinally divided table top 48 is provided which may be removed by separating its divided parts laterally. It is supported on rods 49 which may be raised and lowered by means of cams 51 operated by camshaft 52 and crank 52<1>. On-and-off castors 33 are provided and are operated by means of lever arms 35 and camshaft 34 on the ends of which are disposed cams 36 engaging in notches in sleeves 37 which slide on rods 32 and press downwards on the castor holders 38.
