Abstract

Liquid fuel suitable for use in internal-combustion engines consists of an alcohol, a hydrocarbon, and water in such proportions as to form a homogeneous solution. Pyridine may be added to denature the alcohol, and either picric acid or a peroxide and hydrochloride acid, or both, to assist combustion. In an example, 92 litres of crude commercial alcohol, 5 litres of benzol, and 3 litres of pyridine are churned together, and the mixture is afterwards churned with an equal volume of water. To each litre of the solution are added 0.67 gram of barium peroxide and 0.2 gram of hydrochloric acid, and 0.67 gram of picric acid. The solution is heated to 38 DEG C. after addition of the picric acid. Specifications 3899/14, 111,661, 167,831, and 183,577 are referred to.
