Abstract

Motor spirit comprises petroleum or a fuel derived therefrom such as naphtha or creoline, which has been carburetted by the addition of a hydrocarbon e.g. naphthalene, and to which a small quantity of a solvent such as carbon bisulphide, acetone or ether has been added. The materials are mixed cold, the solvent being added after the hudrocarbon has dissolved in the petroleum. The preferred proportions are 3 per cent of hydrocarbon and 1 per cent of solvent.
