Abstract

205,490. Moody, L. F. April 15, 1922, [Convention datel. Impeller blades; regulating.-Relates to hydraulic turbines and pumps wherein regulation may be effected by adjusting the angularity of the runner blades. The detachable runner blades 51, Fig. 1, have spindles 55 which may be rotated in the hub 52 and secured at the desired angle by means of set screws 56. In a modification, Fig. 5. the blades have discs 72 which are held in adjusted positions in the hub recesses 71 by bolts 75 passing through slots 76 in the discs. Alternatively, the blade discs 81, Figs 8 and 10, may be clamped in position by a ring 80 formed in separate halves. Figs 11 and 12 show the blade discs 88 adjustably secured by locking bolts 95 in hub recesses 87, and held there by a ring 90, a series of segmental plates 92, and a cap 93. A small test turbine may be equipped with adjustable runner blades for experimental purposes.
