Description
SPECIFICATION
A daily nourishing diet supplement and a process for the production of the same
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a daily nourishing supplement and a process for the production of the Same.
Description of the Prior Art
The present invention more particularly concerns a process for the production of encapsulated daily nourishing diet supplements which comprises mixing a hot-water extract in the form of powder of Chlorella algae, nutritious and robust extracts of medical plants, lecithin, vegetable oil and Vitamin E and encapsulating the resulting mixture.
It is well known that Chlorella algeae, belonging to the spcies of single cell algae, grows in water and is which in protein with high quality.
There were various proposals to use Chlorella reasonably not only for the purposes of preparing not only nutritious diet stuff but also a food stuff.
However any practical proposal had been forthcoming since Chlorella either in cell powder or in water-extract was difficult to deal with and to preserve reasonably until the invention provided by me namely U.S. Patent
No. 4,143,162 appeared, which made it practical to use Chlorella in food stuffs without such difficulties as being present in the past.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention is that the former invention namely U.S. Patent No. 4,143.16 has been improved.
According to the present invention, a further improved extremely nutritious daily nourishing diet supplement which does not impart a disagreeable odor or flavor and a process for the production of the same are both provided.
The daily nourishing diet supplement provided in accordance with the present invention is composed of (a) Chlorella, (b) nutritious and robust extracts of medical plants i.e.
garlic, sinseng, ume (Japanese apricot), adlay and Americal aloe, (c) lecithin, (d) one or more vegetable oile and (e) Vitamin E.
The daily diet food stuff encapsulated can be effectively and conveniently accepted as a daily diet food stuff and it can be also used as a seasoning in various foods to be cooked without imparting the feeling of any desirable strong nasty smell and disagreeable taste expected to be caused by its contents.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREF
ERRED EMBODIMENT
The process by which the improved daily nourising diet supplements in encapsulated form are produced comprises the steps of a.
obtaining a preparation which is prepared by mixing two or more extracts of medical plants selected from the group consisting of garlic, sinseny, ume, adlay and American aloe to obtain a miture which is followed by adsorption on a powdered freeze-dried hot water extract of Chlorella algae, b. obtaining another preparation which is prepared by mixing at least two vegetable oils, lecithin and Vitamin E, c. obtaining a fluid which is prepared by uniting the above two preparations and homogenizing the mixture, and d. encapsulating the fluid obtained according to the step c. by an encapsulating apparatus.
The encapsulating apparatus is a illustrated in Figure wherein 1 shows container for the fluid according to the step c., 2 shows pump, 3 shows flow controller, 4 shows segment in the form of a wedge of which face to be tached with cylindrical roller 6 is internally rounded, 5, 6 shows a gelatin film, 6 shows cylindrical roller with caps 6'..., 7 shows cutter and 8 shows the products encapsulated.
The encapsulation step d. of the process of the present invention is carried out as follows;
The fluid obtained according to the step c.
is introduced into container 1, the fluid is flowed down through pump 2 while the flow rate being controlled with flow controller 3 on to a gelatin film which is introduced between two cylindrical rollers which rotate insidely each other, wherein the fluid is intermittently sent just onto the gelatin film placed on cups 6', 6'... which are provided with the surface of the cylindrical rollers and which make a solid space when they meet.
The temperature required for adhesion of the gelatin film is given by segment 4.
The fluied thus introduced between the cylindrical rollers is encapsulated continously through rotation of the cylindrical rollers. The capsulated products are automatically taken out of the system and each encapsulated product is removed with cutter 7.
An object of the present invention is to provide improved encapsulated daily nourishing diet supplement, which are water-soluble and digestable by humans, composed of (a)
Chlorella, (b) nutritious and robust extracts of garlic, sinseng, ume, adlay and American aloe, (c) lecithin, (d) one or vegetable oils and (e) Vitamin E.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a process for the production of the said daily nourishing diet supplement.
The present inventor has previously provided a nourishing food stuff by U.S. Patent
No. 4,143,162 but it is not suitable for being accepted as a daily nourishing diet supplement since it not only leaves certain disagreeable feeling in mouth when accepted but also does not contain sufficient diet components.
The present invention has been conceived as the result of studies on removal such defects seen in the said former invention.
The present inventor has completed the present invention upon the findings that the disagreeable feeling in mouth of the diet food stuffs of the former invention when accepted can overcome by adsorbing extracts of medical plants which have a disagreeable odor and flavour on a powder of hot-water extract of
Chlorella algae and the insufficient diet components can overcome by the employment of ume, adlay and Vitamin E.
The encapsulated products provided in accordance with the present invention are rich in such substances required for daily diet purposes and comfortably acceptable as a daily diet supplement without giving any disagreeable feeling when accepted.
In addition, it is a matter of course that the encapsulated products may be used as a food additive to season foods.
The powdered hot-water extract of Chlorella algae used in the present invention is prepared by suspending about 1 Kg of dried, cells of Chlorella algae in about 1OKg of water, boiling it at a temperature of more than 100"C. until the total volume has been reduced by about one-third, filtrating the product under pressure conditions and freeze-drying the filtrate to obtain a powder, wherein about 20g of the powdered product will be obtained per about 1 Kg of the filtrate.
The garlic, ginseng, ume, adlay and American aloe, which are used in the present invention, are respectively one in liquid form.
An extract of garlic is prepared by pressing the garlic to obtain a liquid which is followed by filtration.
An extract of ume is prepared by first crushing into fine particles while removing its core, then mixing with alcohol in the amont about three times that of ume, boiling the mixture at about 60 to 70"C under reduced pressure condition's for about an hour, cooling the mixture to room temperature and finally filtrating under pressure the mixture to obtain a liquid.
Extracts of sinseng, adlay and American aloe are prepared respectively by first crushing it into small particles which are dispersed in water, boiling the mixture at about 1 00 C until the volume having been reduced by onetenth, them filtrating under pressure the mixture to obtain a liquid.
The amount of water used therein is about ten times that of the starting material.
The vegetable oils employed in the present invention are peanut oil, coconut oil, wheat germ oil, rapeseed oil, salad oil, sesame oil and the like.
As lecithin and Vitamin E employed in the present invention, any commercially available ones may be used.
The mixing ratio of the powdered extract of
Chlorella algae which is employed in the daily diet supplement in accordance with the present invention is, in general, between 7 and 1 5 percent by weight and that of the oils ranges from 70 to 80 percent by weight.
The extracts of the medical plants are used as a whole in an amount ranging from 20 to 60 % by weight to the amount of the powdered extract of Chlorella algae. Lecithin is used in an amount ranging from 3 to 10 percent by weight to the amount of the oil used. And Vitamin E is used in an amount ranging from 2 to 5 percent by weight to the amount of the oil used.
The remainder may be other appropriate diet food stuffs such as honey, other kind
Vitamins or the like in case where necessary.
The gelatin film to be used for encapsulating the material may be any commercially available one as long as it is water-soluble and digestable in humans.
The volume of the encapsulated daily diet supplement provided in accordance with the present invention is preferably of about 270 to 300 mg.
