Abstract

203,752. Smith, A. H. May 18, 1922. Nuts and washers.- Washers or nut blanks are punched out from strip metal 5, pierced, and bevelled by dies in a single operation. The dies, which are operated by a machine such as described in Specification 186,395, comprise an annular die 20 secured in the reciprocating head 2, a stationary die 3 with a bevelled shoulder 7 and a punch 8 mounted on a cross-bar 12 secured in slots in an annular extension 17 of the die holder 1. The washer &c. is ejected by a stepped cylindrical ejector 9 which is operated by a fork 19 passing between the bar 12 and extension 17. The die parts and ejector can be interchanged for others of different size or shape.
