Abstract

203,643. Chapman, W., and Alldridge, R. S. July 18, 1923. Microscopes.-The fine adjustments of microscopes a r e actuated bv toothed gearing and so arranged that the weight of the body tube and fittings is not borne bv the teeth of the gearing. The body tube B is carried by a slide I fitted with the coarse adjustment QM, the slide moving in guides F and bearing by means of a roller on the rotary cam C. The cam C is actuated by a train of wheels from the milled head M, backlash being prevented by means of a helical spring S attached to the cam axle.
