Abstract
175,505. Linotype & Machinery, Ltd., and French, A. G. Jan. 6, 1921. Damping-apparatus for lithographic and like machines.-Ratchet gearing applicable for driving the damping rollers of a lithographic printing press and of the kind in which the effective stroke of a pawl 16 is varied by adjusting a pawl-lifting shroud 2, is controlled bv a screw 9 moving across a scale 15. A rack 7 slides with the screw 9 in a fixed guide-way 8 and meshes with a toothed segment 6 secured to the shroud 2. Adjustment is effected by turning a milled nut 12 between fixed lugs 10, 11, a second nut 13 being for locking. A pointer 14 indicates on the scale 15 the number of teeth on a driven ratchet wheel or rack 5 in each stroke.
