Stationary batch-mixers with rotary stirrers.-In a mixing- machine for chocolate &c. comprising a jacketed stationary container provided with horizontal paddles which rotate bodily about a vertical axis while rotating on their own axes, the paddles consist of two solid helicoidal sections constituting together a complete helix. The paddle sections e are mounted in a frame c rotated within the container b by a central shaft b<2>, the paddle shafts d being provided with pin wheels d<1> engaging a normally fixed pin wheel d<3>. The pin wheel d<3> is provided with dog teeth engaging teeth on a ring f, which can be raised to free the pin wheel d<3> by means of a screw c<1>. The paddles on opposite sides of the machine may be of opposite pitch.
