Abstract

203,531. Bullivant, F. A., and Selby, G. M. Sept. 18, 1922. Rope grips.-Relates to rope stoppers of the kind comprising a pair of wedges capable of gripping a rope between them and slidable longitudinally in a wedge-shaped part of a casing. The casting A, which may have projections on its underside to act as feet or to embrace a rail and ear-pieces a<2> perforated to receive a suspending rope or the like, is formed with a wedgeshaped recess a<3> to receive two wedge-pieces B, B2. Cover-pieces C, C<2> are secured by the screws c with a gap between them sufficient to receive the rope f. In the outer faces of the wedgepieces are inclined grooves b, b<2> parallel with the inclined walls of the recess, and screws or pins d, d<2> in the cover-pieces enter the inclined grooves and act as guides for the wedge-pieces. A plate b<3> screwed on the wedge-piece B engages a corresponding groove in the wedge-piece B<2>, thus acting as a transverse guide. The inner faces of the wedge-pieces may have projections to give a firmer grip on the rope.
