Abstract
Access to contacts mounted within a chamber in a lampholder is achieved via opposed slots in a partition of the lampholder body. The lamp has radially outwardly projecting contacts which are inserted through respective radially orientated portions of the slots prior to rotation of the lamp which brings the contacts thereof into contact with those of the lampholder.
Description
SPECIFICATION
New and improved style electric light lampholder and lamp with live points isolated thus providing protection from electric shock
The lampholder is made of plastics or other nonconductive material, the only metal parts being the contacts coloured red in the drawing. The lampholder is designed so that when connected to the supply are in a chamber and secure from electric shock.
The lamp is of standard design but with modified contacts as coloured green in the drawing. In fitting the lamp into the lampholder the contacts on the lamp shown as green penetrate the slotted aperatures in the lampholder and reach a higher level than the contacts shown as red. A slight clockwise turn of the lamp and the green can settle on the red thus completing the circuit.
CLAIM
The lampholder is in effect a shell enclosing the live contacts. The lamp has extended wire contacts which reach the contacts within the lampholder by means of the slotted apertures shown in the drawing. When the lamp is pushed in the lampholderto the limit and twisted clockwise the contacts shown in green in the drawing of the lamp will settle on the live contacts within the lampholder shown in red in the drawing, thus completing the circuit.
The drawing(s) originally filed was/were informal and the print here reproduced is taken
from a later filed formal copy.
