Abstract
202,995. B³hler Bros. Aug. 25, 1922, [Convention date]. Machinery, utilizing inertia to obtain movements in.-In gyrating weight mechanism for imparting shaking or oscillating movements to milling apparatus or other machinery parts, a pair of intergeared oppositely rotating weights 1, 2 developing equal centrifugal forces in closely adjacent or coincident planes of rotation, are formed with extended hubs so that the centrifugal. forces act within the bearing surfaces, two pins 6, 7, upon which the hubs rotate, being rigidly connected by an intermediate gear box member 12 so formed that the gearwheels 8, 9 interconnecting the weights, can be inserted and brought into mesh from opposite sides. The gear wheels are preferably formed integrally with the hubs as shown and' may be of helical form. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, the weights rotate in adjacent planes a-a, b-b, the weight 2 being in the form of a belt pulley and the pins 7, 6 being carried by brackets 4, 5 secured to the machines part 3. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the weights rotate in a single plane C-C, and the lower member is secured to a pinion 17 meshing with a gearwheel 18 carried by a pulley shaft 19, the device being mounted in an oil retaining casing 15 provided with a cover 16.
