Abstract

202,705. McLean, N. W., and Kyle, W. A. May 18, 1922. Moving-chamber apparatus for granular materials. - A tea-measuring caddy comprises a container A with a tapering bottom end within which is rotatably mounted a closelyfitting sphere D fixed to a spindle E but to form a handle E<1>. The sphere has a depression F to contain the measured quantity and a weight G may be fitted so that the depression will normally be turned downwards. A cover C enables the caddy to be filled and a conical member H pressed upon the sphere by springs J prevents tea jamming between the sphere and the spout. In a modification, the spout and sphere are separate from the container and mounted so that the container, in the form of a bottle, can be inverted over the spout and rest upon the sphere. The apparatus is adapted to be fixed against a wall and the bottle may be so mounted that it swings away from the spout when inverted, for convenience in refilling.
