Abstract

477,922. Dispensing measured quantities. BARLOW, R., and JACKSON, J. M. July 16, 1936, No. 19784. [Class 106 (v)] A container for dispensing measured quantities of the contents comprises a neck portion 2, a measuring chamber 3 therein with a valve seating at the inner end, a valve 7 supported within the body of the container and movable by gravity to close the inner end of the chamber when the receptacle is tilted into the dispensing position, and a stem 10 extending from the valve into the mouth of the receptacle so that the valve may be held open by the operator while the measuring chamber is being filled. During filling, the measuring chamber outlet is closed by the hand or finger of the operator or by another valve member 17 provided at the outer end of the valve stem. The neck of the container may be provided with a liner 5, Fig. 1, flanged inwardly at 6 to form a seating for a disc valve 7, which has upwardly extending lugs 8 adapted to support the valve from the flange when the container is in the normal position. When an upper valve 17 is provided, Fig. 3, the lugs 8 are dispensed with.
