SUGAR HOLDER.
.application led June 18, 1920. Serial No. 389,938. Y
To all whomgt may concern:
l, Be it known that JOSE MARTINEZ BARBERA, a subject of the Kin of Spain, and resident of the city of New Ork, in the county of Kings and State of New York, has invented certain new and useful improvements in Sugar Holders, of which the` following is a specification.
rllhis invention relates to sugar containers.'
One object thereof is to provide a device of this type which shall be both sanitaryand economical in use.
Another object of this invention is to provide a sugar dispenser having the above characteristics which shall be simple and neat in construction, cheap to manufacture and easy to manipulate.
Other objects of this invention will be in part obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out. I
The invention accordingly consists in the v features of construction, combinations of suitable material such as glass for example,
and being threaded adjacent the top as at 1l for the removable cover 12. rlhis cover is made referably of metal and comprises a curvedp top portion 13 formed at one end with a nozzle or spout let` bent from the v material of the cover as will appear from the drawing, and through which thel contents ofthe container are dispensed. The interior of the container is protected against germs and dust and other such contamination by a sanitary cover member 15 which is hinged asat 16 to the nozzle and is preferably in the form of a cap having anannular portion 17 adapted to fit snugly, around the neck of the nozzle. This cover 15 is further adapted to swing back on its hinge by its own weight when the container is tilted so as to dispense the sugar as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 1. ln this manner, the sugar is dispensed from the container without the necessity of introducing any spoons or the fingers thereinto. The dispensing takes place automatically on handling only of the outside of the container body and tilting the same. An added advantage is that only a small amount of the sugar can be dispensed at a time in this way, and the person handling the container can easily adjust the supply to his needs, thus making for high economy.
lt will' thus be/seen that there is provided apparatus inwhich thevseveral objects of this invention are achieved and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.
As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention and as various changes might be made in the embodiment above set forth, it is to be understoodthat all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawings is to be interpreted .as illustrative and not in a'limiting sense.
Having thus describedy my invention, il claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent A sugar dispenser comprising a cylindrical receptacle of material having threads on the exterior surface thereofv adjacent its free opening, a cover securely mounted thereon to normally form a complete closure for said receptacle, said cover-comprising a unitary curved top portion with a spout formed nearits outer edge integral therewith and angularly projecting outwardly and upwardly'thereof beyond the side of the receptacle, a cylindrical ring. `member integral with said top portion having the interior surface thereofl threaded to it the threaded end of thejreceptacle, the juncture of the outer edge of said spout with said cylindrical ring member being in line with the* outer surface of the cylindrical receptacle, and a cap hinged to an edge of the spout opening norms1-,1l37 in position to close the latter, said spout having an outlet in a plane 'after is returned to its initial position. normally at an angle with the horizontal,
Signed at New York city, in the county of 1C Said cap arranged to swing open when the New York, and State of .New York, this 't3 dispenser is tilted less than 90 fnom its 11th day of June, A. 1).,1920.
