It is `directed to the provision of containers for pills. tablets, capsules and other small articles, having means for facilitating the dispensing or removal of one or a few of such articles for use.

The inconveniences in' the use of receptacles, suchv as bottles, tins, boxes, or other containers filled with tablets or other small articles vare only too well known. In general, the bottle or jar is overturned and the user attempts to shake out one or more of the articles, with the result that some .fall to the ground, or more 'than necessary are shaken out.

It is the object of my invention to provide ya container having means whereby the contents may be easily dispensed by separating `one -or more of the tablets, capsules or the like articles in a simple overturning movement of the container which causes one or more of the articles to become separated from the mass and become accessible while still in the container or in the cover for removal by `hand one or more at a time. This effects saving of material and time and enables easy and ready removal or dispens ing of the articles.

A further object of my invention is to provide a container wherein said saving of time and material and ease of operation are accomplished by a very simple and inexpensive device which should not materially increase the 'cost of the present day containers.

n Other objects of this invention will inpart be obvious and in part hereinafter pointed out.

The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements. and arrangement of parts which will be exemplied in the construction hereinafter described, and of which the scope of application will be indicated in the claims.

In general, I accomplish the foregoing objects of my invention by providing on the inside surface of the container or in the interior of the cover or closure va member to which the articles" in the container can easily and readily be lightly attached by manipulation of the container. This member may comprise a sticky area, so located that when the container is in normal vertical position, such area will be above the level of the articles, so that it is easily accessible. Thus, this sticky area may be provided on the interior of the cover or on the inner surface of the oontainer near the opening. When the container is inverted, one ormore of the articles, depending upon the relative size of the same and of the adhesive area, will adhere to the latter. When the container is righted, the adhered articles will separate from the mass and will dangle from said area, the adherence being so slight that the separated articles may be readily detached. The

size of the sticky area may be chosen so that .approximately a predetermined number cf the arti* cles may be dispensed at each operation. Thus, each operation may dispense a prescribed dosage in the case of pharmaceutical or medicinal products.

Referring now to the drawing and more particularly to Figs. 1 and 2, I have there shown a container ID embodying one form of .my invention. Said container is in the form of a glass bottle I2, the contents of which may comprise one-piece pharmaceutical capsules or pills I4. The mouth I6 of the bottle is closed off by a cap `I8 rwhich is detachably secured to the bottle, as by cooperating threads 2U on the cap rim 22, A liner 28, underneath the crown 20 of the cap, is provided in any suitable manner, as by punching, with a central aperture 32 at least large enough to permit a capsule I4 to project partially therethrough. superimposed on said liner is a layer 34 of material to which has been applied an adhesive coating 36. In this manner, the layer 34 will adhere to the back of the liner 28 and a sticky area 38 will be exposed on the under surface of the cap.

In Fig. 3 I have shown another form of my invention, wherein a sticky coating 40, instead of being applied to a layer of material sandwiched between the crown and liner, is applied directly to the inner surface of the crown. It will thus be seen that there is provided a device in which the several objects of this invention are achieved, and which is well adapted to meet the conditions of practical use.

As various possible embodiments might be made of the above invention, and as various changes might be made in the embodiments above set forth, it is to be understood that all matter herein set forth or shown in the accompanying drawing is to be interpreted as illustrative and not in a limiting sense.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desireto secure by Letters Patent:

1. A package comprising a container having a.- mass of small articles housed therein, said container including a receptacle having an open mouth and a cover for opening and closing said mouth, Said container mouth being so small that said articles are inaccessible for removal by hand when the receptacle is upright and the receptacle cover is in open position, and an area of sticky material supported by and within said container, Said area being positioned to be manually accessible when the cover is in open position, clear of-the mass when the container is upright, and accessible to` any article in the mass without movement of the area relative to the receptacle when the container is inverted with its cover closed so that when said container is turned upside down with its cover closed a random article will adhere to said area and separate from said mass upon reversion of said container whereupon it is accessible for removal by hand when the cover is opened.

2. A package as set forth in claim 1 wherein the area is inside of the container and adjacent the mouth of the receptacle.

3. A package as set forth in claim 1 wherein the area is on the interior of the container and adjacent the mouth of the receptacle.

4. Al package as set forth in claim 1 wherein the area is over the mass of articles when the container is upright. 4 8. A package as set forth in claim 1 wherein the area is on the inside surface of the cover.

9. A package .as set forth in claim 1 wherein the area is on the inside surface of the cover and is smaller than said surface.

10. A package as set forth in claim 1 wherein the least dimension of the area is at least equal to the least dimension of the articles.

1l. A package as set forth in claim l wherein the area is on the inside surface of the cover, is smaller than the surface and is spaced from the periphery thereof.

12. A package as set forth in claim 1 wherein a liner is provided inside of the cover and exposed to the interior of the container and the area of sticky material is supported on the surfacey of said liner facing the inside of said container.

13. A package as set forth in claim 1 wherein a. liner is provided on the inside of the cover and is exposed to the interior of the container and the area of sticky material is associated with said liner in such manner as to also be exposed on the inside of said cover, said area being smaller than said liner and being spaced from the periphery thereof.

14. A package as set forth in claim 1 wherein a liner is provided on the inside of the cover and is exposed to the interior of the container, said liner having an aperture, a layer of material intermediate of said liner and thexcrown of the cover and in juxtaposition with said liner, said layer lying across said aperture, the area of stick material being on theV surface of said layer next to said liner.

15. A package as set forth in claim 1 wherein a liner is provided on the inside of the cover and is exposed to the interior of the container and the area of sticky material covers at least a portion of the inside exposed surface of said liner.
