Abstract

The installation comprises a geothermal circuit B drawing heat from the ground at 5 and returning it at 6, a heating circuit C deriving heat from exchanger 7 in circuit B and from exchanger 2 in a transfer circuit A, and a cooling circuit D rejecting heat to exchanger 9 in circuit B and exchanger 4 in circuit A. In addition heat may be extracted from industrial effluents in circuit F and from a solar heating circuit E. The installation is operated with maximum efficiency by balancing heat flows in the different circuits, using the geothermal circuit as a heat reservoir during cold weather and as a heat sink during hot weather such that there is no nett heat loss from the earth over the year. <IMAGE>
