Abstract

In a carburettor for continuously injecting fuel into an I.C. engine induction passage, an air throttling body 7 is adjustable axially by suction in a chamber 11 ventable to atmosphere and fuel flow is determined by the position of the throttling body 7 when the pressure drop across a fuel-metering valve 4 movable therewith remains constant, the pressure drop being nevertheless variable, by a differential pressure valve 26, in dependence on engine operating conditions. The valve 26 has a diaphragm 34 separating chambers 27, 32 of which chamber 27 forms part of the fuel line downstream of the fuel-metering valve 4, the cross- sectional area of a fuel outlet 29 from the chamber 27 to a nozzle 14 is adjusted by a valve needle 28, fuel at the pressure upstream of the fuel-metering valve 4 acts in the chamber 32, and a force dependent on induction passage suction and engine temperature is applied to the diaphragm 34 of the differential pressure valve 26. <IMAGE>
