Abstract

1349006 Spray carburettors LES USINES LAPRADE S A and P GELE 7 May 1971 [8 May 1970 30 Dec 1970] 13705/71 Heading F1B A fuel and air supply chamber 1e communicates with the mixing chamber 1d between the main throttle valve 2 and an air valve 4, controlled in response to the pressure in the mixing chamber, through a tube 9, a channel 8 opening to the upper part of the supply chamber and a tube or tubes 10 with radial openings 10a opening to the lower part of the supply chamber. Fuel flow through a jet 7, opening to the chamber 1e, is controlled by a needle valve 5 coupled to the valve 4. An air inlet port 11a, communicating with the chamber 1e, is controlled by a valve 12 operable by a barometric bellows 14 and an actuator 25. The actuator 25 has a diaphragm, connected by a rod 14a to the bellows 14, which is subject to the suction downstream of the valve 2 or atmospheric pressure under the control of an electromagnetically- operable valve 30. The valve 30 is controlled by a thermostat 34 responsive to engine coolant temperature and a relay 35 and switch 36 responsive to engine speed and main throttle valve position, respectively. Below a predetermined temperature or above a predetermined speed with the valve 2 substantially closed the actuator diaphragm is subject to suction and the valve 12 reduces the flow cross-section of the port 11a. The actuator 25 is movable manually, against the bias of the spring washers 27, by a rod 28 to close the port 11a for starting. A diaphragm 17 subject to the suction downstream of the valve 2, operates a valve 16 above a predetermined suction to open an air inlet channel if communicating with the chamber 1e.
