Abstract
A fuel injector has a body 200 in which first, second and third flow passages (210, 212, 223) are provided. The first passage (210) feeds liquid fuel in the liquid fuel injection mode to a first ring of outlet orifices (216) which discharge into the second passage (212). The second passage (212) leads to a second ring of outlet orifices (213) which are aligned with orifices (216) in the first ring and which are of greater cross- sectional area than the latter. The orifices (213 and 216) lie on axes which are disposed at an acute angle (e.g. 45 DEG ) to the longitudinal axis of the body (200) so that a conical discharge of fuel and air is obtained in use. The second passage 223 is an air passage and the third passage is a gaseous fuel/air mixture passage when in the gaseous fuel injection mode and is an air passage when in the liquid fuel injection mode. <IMAGE>
