Abstract

A flap valve for service pipes and the like has a pivoted flap (7) which, in its closed position, abuts against the inside surface of an inwardly concavely curved sealing region of a sealing lining (2), the curvature of the inside surface of the sealing region in the open position of the valve being slightly greater than the curvature of the cooperable part of the flap (7). The sealing region is adapted to yield to permit the flap (7) to abut against its inside surface to close the valve. A spring element (3) is interposed between the housing (1) and sealing lining (2) and is supported by/or abuts against the housing (1) and/or sealing lining (2).
