Abstract

The valve has a conical sealing element (2) secured on the end of a valve spindle (1). The sealing element (2) comprises a rigid guiding body (4) matched to the conical valve seat (8), a likewise rigid pressure body (3) which serves to transmit the closing pressure, a metal spring (5) supported at both ends on these rigid bodies (3, 4), and a packing ring (6) made of rubber. The packing ring (6) is connected in a firmly adhering manner to the pressure body (3), the spring (5) and the guiding body (4) by vulcanisation. The metal spring (5) loads the guiding body (4) in the direction of the axial decompression of the packing ring (6). When the valve is closed, not only the packing ring (6) but also the metal spring (5) is compressed so that, when the valve is opened, the relaxing spring (5) moves the guiding body (4) back into its axial starting position. The spring prevents shattering of the guiding body and compensates loss of prestress in the packing ring (6) due to aging and service. The valve is suitable, in particular, for sanitary installations.
