Abstract

Safety means suitable for spin dryers are described, having a motor- drum assembly 3, a lid 7 to engage over the spinning drum 4, an actuating lever 28 on a switch shaft 8 capable of acting on a brake mechanism 11-15 and a switch mechanism 18 for the motor 3 so that, initially, the brake 15 is applied and the motor 3 switched off and, after swinging to an operative position (Fig. 4), latches over the free end of the lid 7 and releases the brake 15 and actuates the switch mechanism 18. The safety means has a laterally projecting plate 19 on the housing 3 and transmission means 20-23, to guide a catch 24 into an operative position, to engage a locking surface 27 beneath the lid 7 comprising a control lever 29 engaging, via a stop 30, in the pivotal range of a switch lever 10 connected to the switch shaft 8 and embracing by means of a fork 31, the transmission means 20-23 which engages in the plate 19. <IMAGE>
