Abstract

A power conversion system employing parallel polyphase bridges is operated in a manner such that all phase rectifiers connected to a positive output bus perform as one group and all phase rectifiers connected to the negative output bus perform as a second group. By the selective firing of the rectifiers of the two groups in accordance with prescribed modes, the system can be made to deliver power to the load between the maximum positive and negative capabilities of the system at an improved power factor. <IMAGE>
