Abstract

201,720. Chapman, A. E. June 27, 1922. Condensers.-A multiple variable condenser for use in two or more interconnected circuits comprises three or more groups of plates, at least two of which are independently movable relatively to the remaining group or groups. As shown, three groups a - - c, mounted on rotary spindles a<1> - - c<1>, operated by knobs A' - - C<1> are provided, the group a co-operating with the other groups for varying the capacity in series or parallel with the tuning inductance f in an aerial circuit e. The spindle a<1> may be provided with a contact finger d which engages the bottom plate of the group c for the purpose of short-circuiting the series condenser when using the parallel condenser.
