Abstract
A hydraulic damper comprises a cylinder 1 containing oil therein, a piston 6 slidably fitted in the cylinder, a hollow piston rod 8 extending from one side of the piston and projecting out of the cylinder and a tubular member 11 mounted on the other side of the piston with the interior thereof communicating with the interior of the hollow piston rod. A connecting passage including the interior 9 of the hollow piston rod 8 and the interior of the tubular member 11 places the opposite sides of piston 6 in communication with one another. An adjusting rod 14 extends through the piston rod 8 and projects out of the cylinder. A valve body 16 is slidably received in the tubular member 11 and is connected to the inner end of the adjusting rod 14 for changing the effective area of the connecting passage by means of a valve portion 17 which co-operates with orifices 13. A stop 19, Fig. 2 restricts the rotational movement of the adjusting rod 14 to an angle less than 360 degrees. <IMAGE>
