Abstract
A combined heat and power plant of the kind comprising a gas turbine 1 in which mechanical power is derived from an output shaft of the turbine and heat from exhaust gas of the turbine, includes a heat exchanger 5 having a primary element 6 included in an exhaust path of the gas turbine, and a secondary element 4 included in a path between the compressor 2 and the combustion chamber 3, and valve means A, B arranged to control heat transfer between the turbine exhaust gas and the compressor discharge air, whereby to control the relative proportions of heat output and mechanical power output. <IMAGE>
