Abstract

The apparatus includes a truing arm (9) carrying three adjustable truing tools (10, 11, 12) mounted on an upper carriage (8) displaceably mounted in an upper carriage guide means. A replaceable, circular segment member (24) is carried by the truing arm (9) and has a radius that substantially equals the base circle radius of the involute teeth. A rolling bar rule (22) has an end (23) that bears against a prismatic mounting block (21) for a slide (16) which is displaceable by a cam 20 and roller 18 in response to displacement of a lower carriage (6) on which the upper carriage (8) is mounted. The rolling bar rule (22) rolls against the peripheral surface (24a) of the segment member (24) with the interposition of a spring steel strip (26), which prevents relative sliding movement between the rolling bar rule and the segment member. <IMAGE>
