1453652 Truing grinding wheels ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG 18 July 1974 [19 July 1973] 31838/74 Heading B3D Apparatus for truing a grinding wheel to an involute profile of any desired base circle radius comprises a rolling rule 6 rollable on a rolling arc 2, 3, a guide arm with a radial guide 10 rotatably mounted on the axis 1 of the rolling arc, a control member 20 fixed on the rolling rule 6 and engaging the radial guide, a base circle slide 13 mounted on the rolling rule and adjustable at right angles thereto, a tool holder slide 16 mounted on the base circle slide and adjustable parallel to the rolling rule, and a transmission member 18 engaging the radial guide, the rolling rule 6 being connected to a support 4 mounted rotatably on the rolling arc axis 1 and displaceable relative to the support by a device 8, 9 provided between the rolling rule and support. The apparatus may be used to true grinding wheels to an involute profile for internal or external tooth systems. As described, the apparatus has two rolling ares 2, 3 upon an axis 1 on which the rolling support 4 is also rotatable. The support is slidable on a pair of rods 5 carried by the rolling rule 6 and a piston-and-cylinder device 8, 38 is disposed between the support and rule to effect relative movement therebetween, the rule being connected to the ares 2, 3 by bands 7. A guide element is disposed adjacent a wall 34 of the rule 6 and has a bottom yoke 29 which is rotatably mounted on the axis 1 and is conneeted by a pair of guide rods 10, constituting the radial guide, to an upper yoke 11. A control slide 20 is mounted on the rods 10 and connected by a stud 19 to the rolling rule 6. Two guides 12 project from the rule 6 and slidably support the base circle guide 13 which has longitudinal guides 15 for a tool holder slide 16 having a pin 17 engaging a transmission member 18 slidable on the rods 10. The slide 16 carries an arm 21 on which are truing diamonds 30, 31 adjustable along slides 25 and angularly by heads 24 for truing helical tooth systems. Operation of the piston-and-cylinder device 8, 28 causes the support 4 to move along the rods 5 and the rule 6 to roll on the arcs 2, 3. The stud 19 moves along an involute curve on a base circle determined by adjustment of the base circle guide 13 along the rods 12 of the rolling rule 6 by a screw 14. The movement of the stud 19 causes pivotal movement of the guide element to be transmitted to the control slide 20 so that the pin 17 and tool holder slide 16 describe an involute curve. During truing of a grinding wheel for internal tooth systems first one and then the other diamond is operative. For external tooth systems, the diamonds are on slides so that they can be selectively retracted when not operative.
