Abstract
The quality characteristics of metal strip, especially electrical strip steel, are improved by stretch-bend straightening over bending rolls without gap-forming counterpressure rolls and subjecting to reverse plastic bending without the subsequent use of straightening rolls, the contact angle round the final bending roll alone being adjusted, independently of the contact angles round the preceding bending rolls, so that the metal strip is brought under fully plastic bending stress into the flat state, while any changes in the direction of the metal strip after the final bending roll are brought about entirely or substantially within the elastic state, leaving high residual stresses in the metal strip. <IMAGE>
