Abstract

A variable area meter insert unit (10) for insertion into a variable area flow meter frame (30). The unit has a pair of opposed side walls 12, 13, a top 14 and a bottom 15. A flow meter tube (20) is supported in holes in the top and bottom. When installed the unit fits flush within the frame whereby the tube is aligned with connections 59, 56 in the frame. The tube is clamped between seals 45, 46 by a screw 37 which urges sliding connector 59 downwards. To minimise risk to operators, the rear wall 17 is thin to allow fluid to escape backwards in the event of tube breakage. <IMAGE>
