Abstract

A circuit for preventing the generation of excessive voltages across a component 3 of a circuit including an inductive element 2, comprises a transformer 4 having its primary circuit connected across the component across which the generation of an excessive voltage is to be prevented, and its secondary circuit connected across a capacitor 8 and an associated load 10, there being included a uni-directional element 6 in the primary circuit of the transformer and another 9 in the secondary circuit, the uni-directional elements being arranged to prevent the said component and the capacitor being short-circuited by the transformer. <IMAGE>
