Abstract

200,325. Rushen, P. C., (Siemens- Schuckertwerke Ges.). June 10, 1922. Reversing-gearing.-A pulley 1 is adapted to be driven in either direction respectively by an arrangement of brakes and clutches and an epicyclic train, as shown in Fig. 1. The pulley 1 and two brake members 17, 19 do not move axially. Two double cones 3, 10 slide axially together and are connected respectively to reactive elements so that while one such element is clutched to the pulley 1, the other is kept from turning. Thus when an annulus 3<1> is held, a planet-carrier 5 is clutched to the pulley, a sun gear 9 being driven from a motor 8. On shifting the link system 15, the carrier is held, and the pulley is clutched to the annulus, being driven reversely.
