Two-way repeating systems.-Relates to means as described in Specification 199,344, [Class 40 (iii), Telegraphs, Electric], for preventing " singing " in telephone repeating systems and consists in making provision for reducing the amplification of those particular frequencies that lie in the region of the natural frequency of the line. For this purpose one or more suitablydamped oscillatory circuits L, C and L<1>, C<1> tuned to the frequencies to be weakened are inserted in the branches b, b of the system.. Where more than one such circuit is used each may be tuned to a different frequency in order to broaden the frequency-band to be weakened. Similar circuits may also be inserted in the input leads to the amplifier. Specification 151,140 also is referred to.
