Repeating and amplifying systems.-In a telephone repeater system in which each line 11, 13 is balanced by a corresponding network 22, 22<1>, the single repeating element 19 has both its input and output circuits connected to both lines. Both input circuits 17, 17<1> are connected across the mid-points of balanced transformers 15, 15<1>, and both output circuits 21, 21<1> are connected inductively to the respective lines 11, 13 by the transformer coils 16, 16<1>. The common portion of the output circuits includes a wave filter 20, by which the amplified currents are restricted to the useful frequency range. The lines 11, 13 may have different characteristic impedances, the lines 11 being shown as a loaded line, and the line 13 as unloaded.
