Artificial lines and balancing networks. - In order to effect a more perfect balance at a repeating-station between a loaded telephone line F and an artificial line, one or more of the nearer loading-coils and associated line sections are accurately balanced by a resistance R, inductance L and capacity C, and a resistance R<o> of amount equal to the characteristic impedance of the line is connected across the capacity C. Condensers C<1> mav be connected across the line on each side of the amplifier connection.
