Abstract

481,085. Two - - way transmission. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Aug. 13, 1937, No. 22327. Convention date, Aug. 13, 1936. [Class 40 (iv)] The known arrangement shown in Fig. 3, in which balancing networks are avoided at the junction between a two-way line C and two oppositely directed one-way lines A, B with the aid of rectifiers G1, G2, G<1>1, G<1>2, arranged to block transmission from A to B, is modified by associating an impedance l, Fig. 8, with the input to the line C, so that the unidirectional voltages developed across this impedance, when signals arrive from A, bias the rectifiers G2, G<1>2 and so prevent signals from reaching B. The capacity of the rectifiers may be balanced by condensers Cl, C2. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown) the impedance is a single resistance connected between the mid point of the four-wire side of transformer U3 and the mid-points of the two-wire sides of transformers U1, U2. In a further modification, Fig. 7, such a resistance is divided into preferably equal parts r1, r2, by a connection to a circuit comprising inductance and resistance bridged across all the transformers. In another modification, Fig. 6 (not shown) resistance r2 is omitted and resistance r1 is replaced by a direct connection. In another modification, Fig. 9, the rectifiers are thermionic triodes which act as class " B " amplifiers to signals in the proper direction and are biassed further when signals arrive from A.
